Hello everyone.
I spent the past week with my family making memories in the redwoods. It was magical, overstimulating, exhausting . . . and then I promptly came home and had a massive migraine after catching up on the horrific news out of Rafah. I don’t have it within me to polish up a post for this week, but here are a few things for your reading consideration.
First, Joshua P. Hill is at the forefront of talking about Palestine and his post from today is essential reading. The U.S. (and the global configuration of western allies) are in shambles and Gaza is pointing out the cracks in western “democracies.” Read his piece here:
Secondly, I am making my post from last week, Vampire Time, available for everyone to read. I was shocked by how many people do a similar process of healing / resting / daydreaming, and thought others might want to process this interesting accommodation / somatic practice. You can access the post without the paywall here:
And lastly, if you have been waiting to check out my new project or dive into thinking about childhood with religious authoritarian parenting methods, maybe today is a good day to dip your toes in that water? We have almost 1,500 subscribers over at STRONGWILLED and the conversations we are having are sometimes difficult but absolutely necessary for healing and creating the lives that we want to live in the present (and in the future). Our most recent post compares and contrasts two contemporaries who both were interested in child development and the Christian faith: Fred Rogers and Dr. James Dobson. Check it out here:
I’m gearing up for some pride themed posts for June, and also a queer romance book club recommendation post, so start making your lists of your favorite books to share with our community here!
Much love from your sad friend who is overwhelmed by the world but determined to keep showing up in it,
D.L.
